Wire Mesh Demister
A wire mesh mist eliminator is a gas-liquid separation device that removes entrained droplets as gas passes through the mesh pad of the eliminator.

Product Structure:
The wire mesh mist eliminator consists primarily of a wire mesh block made from wire mesh and wire mesh grids, along with a supporting structure that secures the mesh block in place. The wire mesh itself serves as a gas-liquid filtration medium, crafted from various materials—either metallic or non-metallic wires. Specifically, the non-metallic wires used in the gas-liquid filter are typically twisted from multiple strands of non-metallic fibers, though they can also be made from a single strand of non-metallic material. This wire mesh mist eliminator is capable of efficiently removing not only larger liquid droplets suspended in the gas stream but also smaller and even microscopic droplets. As a result, it finds extensive application in gas-liquid separation systems across industries such as chemical processing, petroleum refining, tower equipment manufacturing, and pressure vessel production.
The wire mesh mist eliminator (demister) is used in separation towers to capture liquid droplets entrained in the gas stream, ensuring efficient mass transfer while minimizing the loss of valuable materials and improving the operation of downstream compressors. Typically, wire mesh mist eliminators are installed at the top of the tower. They can effectively remove mist droplets as small as 3–5 micrometers. When placed between tower trays, these devices not only maintain optimal mass-transfer efficiency but also help reduce the spacing between trays. Therefore, wire mesh mist eliminators are primarily employed for gas-liquid separation—and can even serve as air filters for gas purification applications. Additionally, wire mesh is widely utilized in instrumentation as a buffer for various types of measuring devices, as well as an effective electronic shield to prevent electromagnetic interference. Today, this technology is extensively applied across industries such as chemical processing, petroleum refining, sulfuric acid production, pharmaceuticals, light manufacturing, metallurgy, machinery, and environmental protection.
How it works:
When gas containing mist droplets rises upward through the wire mesh at a certain velocity, the inertia of the rising droplets causes them to collide with the fine wires of the mesh, adhering to the wire surfaces. As the droplets spread across the wire surfaces and undergo gravitational settling, they coalesce into larger liquid droplets that flow down along the wires toward the intersection points where two wires meet. The wettability of the wires, combined with the surface tension of the liquid and the capillary action of the wires, enables these droplets to grow steadily—until, at last, the accumulated droplet becomes heavy enough that its own gravitational force exceeds the combined upward force of the gas flow and the liquid’s surface tension. At this point, the droplet detaches from the wire and falls away. After passing through the wire-mesh mist eliminator, the gas is essentially free of mist droplets. This process effectively separates mist from the gas stream, improving operational conditions, optimizing process parameters, reducing equipment corrosion, extending equipment lifespan, increasing processing capacity, and enabling the recovery of valuable materials—all while protecting the environment and minimizing atmospheric pollution. The device boasts a simple yet compact design, delivering high mist-removal efficiency with minimal pressure drop. It is lightweight, easy to install, operate, and maintain. Notably, the wire-mesh mist eliminator achieves a capture efficiency of 98% to 99.8% for mist droplets with particle sizes ≥3–5 μm, while simultaneously maintaining an extremely low pressure loss of just 250–500 Pa as the gas flows through the unit. This makes it an ideal solution for enhancing overall equipment productivity.
